Barcelona have arrived the Portuguese capital for Wednesday night’s Champions League group stage clash with Sporting at the Estádio José Alvalade.
The Group D leaders flew to Lisbon on Tuesday morning, a day before their UEFA Champions League Matchday 2 encounter with Sporting CP, who are even with Barça on three points but currently occupy second place based on goal differential.
According to a club statement on its website, Messi and his team-mates’ flight took off from Barcelona-El Prat airport at 11.35am and landed in Lisbon a few hours later. Club director Javier Bordas led the Club’s expedition on Tuesday’s flight, which included, in addition to the first team, the Under 19 team, which is set to face Sporting in Matchday 2 of the UEFA Youth League. Upon landing in Lisbon, the Club’s expedition headed to the Lisbon Marriott Hotel.
The first team will go to the Estádio José Alvalade later in the afternoon. Once there, head coach Ernesto Valverde and defender Nelson Semedo will appear before the media on Monday evening.
