Manchester City defender bizarrely congratulated Chelsea and on Instagram on Saturday evening… thanks to an incredible PR blunder.

Earlier in the day, Pep Guardiola’s City thumped Roy Hodgson’s hapless Crystal Palace 5-0, while the Blues stormed to a 4-0 win away to Stoke.

But incredibly, it was Premier League rival Stones who took to social media to pat Morata and Chelsea on the back.

A post on Stones’ Instagram page read: “Great win today and congratulations @alvaromorata on his hattrick! #CFC”

However, it’s not all as it seems – as it would appear the congratulatory post was in fact meant for Gary Cahill‘s Instagram.

Not only would it make a lot more sense for the Stamford Bridge club captain to be giving his side a gee-up, but also, both Stones and Cahill have the same public relations team.

It’s no great secret football stars often have their social media pages managed by someone else.
